We had our first, fateful meeting.

My mother was more perceptive.

When I finally brought you home,
You were filled with trepidation.
I was shocked when you admitted

You’d seen my brother countless times,
So facing him would be a breeze.
My mother’s kindness assured you
That she would accept you with ease.

Meeting Norman was the challenge.
Would he reject you at first glance?
Tales about a haughty rival
Could cause trouble for our romance.
Facing off with a gym leader
Was unlike any contest fray.
Still, with chin up you persevered.
Love would claim victory today.

When my father rose from his seat,
I saw fear flash across your eyes.
When he greeted you so warmly,
That fear transformed into surprise.
He shook your hand, told you his name,
And invited you to sit down.
After the tension left the air,
My whole family gathered ‘round.

You and Max discussed Pokémon
And training techniques that you had.
Mom wanted some juicy gossip
About Harley and Solidad.
My dad only threatened you once,
Or was it twice? I don’t recall.
I assure you he was teasing.
He seemed to like you overall!
